Women in Music Series

About the Event

Join us as we sing songs of inspiration and hope composed and arranged by African American Women, both past and present. Covering a variety of genres and time periods, the presentation will include songs by early gospel artists such as Rosetta Tharpe, by activists such as Nina Simone, by present-day neo-soul singers like India Arie and by classical and gospel composers such as Dr. Diane White-Clayton. We will honor extraordinary women, women who through their music represent a rich and vibrant heritage of African American music and culture. Offering hope, joy, healing and empowerment, this music, these songs will transcend barriers and uplift us all.
