Gospel Music Workshop with Dr. Kathy Bullock

Join the Montpelier Community Gospel Choir for an immersive day of singing, learning, and joy with renowned conductor and scholar Dr. Kathy Bullock. Participants will learn traditional gospel songs along with their history and cultural context in the African American experience. The workshop is open to all—whether you're an experienced singer or brand new to group singing. The day concludes with a free public concert featuring workshop participants. Registration for the workshop is required and lunch is included. Suggested donation is $ 45.00, but a minimum of $ 10.00 is needed to cover costs.

Vive cuatro días de música inspiradora y comunidad en este Taller de Música Gospel impartido por la Maestra Kathy Bullock. Reconocida internacionalmente por su estilo de enseñanza dinámico, su profundo conocimiento musical y su alegría contagiosa, Kathy crea espacios donde cantantes de todos los niveles pueden aprender, crecer y celebrar el poder del canto colectivo.

TOUR 2026!!! Singing a Journey of Freedom - Songs of Slavery and Emancipation

Join us on a tour, from June 12-25, 2026, of key sites on the Underground Railroad. The tour would
bring together 30+ passengers interested in the history and experience, along with an ensemble of
singers from KY, other nearby states, and from Switzerland, who will perform songs of the enslaved
and abolitionist songs from the Songs of Slavery and Emancipation Project. Project. Where applicable
the tour will also provide workshops under the direction of Dr. Kathy Bullock so that local singers can
learn some of the songs and join in the performances. Additionally, where appropriate, we will offer
screenings of our documentary film on this project.
The tour will include sites in Peterboro, NY (National Abolitionist Hall of Fame), Niagara Falls, Ontario
(Churches of Nathaniel Dett and Harriet Tubman), Lake Placid, NY (John Brown Farm State Historic
Site), Torrington, CT (John Brown’s Birthplace), and other historical sites of the Underground Railroad
in KY, Ohio, NY, VT, and MA.
