Common Ground on the Hill - Traditions Week

Traditions Weeks are individual weeks of classes, concerts, dances and other activities in the traditional roots-based arts, normally held on the campus of McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland.

Dr. Kathy Bullock presents Songs of Slavery and Emancipation!
These songs come from a project consisting of recordings of protest and freedom songs during the 1700 and 1800s by both abolitionists and the enslaved. Most of these songs have not been heard in over 100 years; yet the message is still relevant and vitally important today. This is a true treasure trove of song. Kathy Bullock’s extensive career in song includes leading choirs and ensembles around the world, including her renowned work at Berea College.

Registrants in this class are urged to join the Gospel Choir with Kathy Bullock, meeting from 6:45 - 7:45 PM, Monday - Friday, July 14-18! The Gospel Choir is open to all Traditions Weeks participants, and will perform on Friday for the entire camp. Information will be included in the student orientation packet.
